About the Comic

DeFlocked is about four outcasts who are forced to coexist in the folds of American suburbia on a centuries-old working farm called Lubberland Farms. Behind the hay bales and fertilizer lies a secret animal preserve for displaced and disenchanted pets, including Mamet, comedy's most derelict, self-absorbed sheep. Mamet's outlandish behavior meets its reckoning with Cobb, the mature, sensible dog. Cobb's clueless brother Rupert burns with sunny optimism, which contrasts with the dark, semi-twisted antics of Tucker, the human boy who they are raising as one of their own.

Described by many as "smart, clever and oddly addictive," DeFlocked is a 21st century take on the legendary sitcoms of our time. The comic is a contemporary, laugh-out-loud family strip that deftly blends the dynamic relationship comedy of TV classic All in the Family with a Seinfeld-ian outlook on the human condition. In fact, DeFlocked has been endorsed by the master of edgy, uncomfortable humor, Larry David, co-creator of Seinfeld and star of the HBO hit comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm!

"I will happily be part of a new demographic for DeFlocked … people who didn’t read comics but do now," said David.

Corriveau, who has written for some of the top TV shows in the country, has distilled his experiences in the Hollywood trenches and developed four deliriously funny yet seriously dysfunctional characters:

  • Mamet: A wayward sheep who has an opinion on just about everything. He is crass, cynical, and armed to the teeth with a lethal combination of arrogance and ignorance.
  • Cobb: The practical older dog brother of Rupert, paternal father figure to Tucker and all-around moral anchor of the group. Cobb seeks true balance in life, but the world -and a big obnoxious sheep- are conspiring heavily against him.
  • Rupert: With a heart of gold and a mind of similar mineral content, naive and trusting Rupert is Mamet’s philosophical nemesis and Tucker’s all-too-willing accomplice. As the younger dog brother, he drinks in all that life has to offer and promptly dribbles it down his chin.
  • Tucker: An 8-year-old boy, Tucker is the only human to actually live among the animals. He was raised by Cobb and Rupert after landing mysteriously on their doorstep. Young and impressionable, Tucker needs extra guidance, especially against “Uncle” Mamet’s questionable influence.

Readers will revel in DeFlocked's searing honesty and blatant truths about the human condition and our ingrained obsession with pop culture, through the absurd interactions and comical exploits of these four mismatched companions.

"When strangers are forced to become family, the first thing to go is civility. The characters in DeFlocked are archetypes. They represent each facet of our own human personalities. Their struggles, ambitions, fears and desires are our own," explains Corriveau. "Through dialogue, conflicts and sight gags, readers will experience a familiar world of social relationships and pop-culture influences, all in a hilarious setting that is not too far from their own."
