Dustin Dustin Kudlick is a 23-year-old college graduate who has moved back in with his parents and sister until he decides what he wants to do with his life. Something of a dreamer, Dustin contents himself, if not his father, by working at various jobs he receives through a temporary agency. An inveterate dreamer, Dustin is determined to find success without the tedium of working his way up the ladder.

Ed Ed Kudlick, 52, is a private practice lawyer whose clients include local politicians, goofballs, and petty criminals. Outside of work, Ed's most passionate pursuit is encouraging his son toward a productive career an--more importantly--a place of his own. Thrifty and practical, Ed is often at odds with his radio-celebrity wife, Helen.

|
Helen At 45, Helen Kudlick hosts a local radio advice show, Here's Helen! Contrary to Ed, Helen delights in having Dustin at home, where she continues to mother him.

Megan 15-year-old Megan is Dustin's sister. Well-organized, studious and disciplined, Meg's top priority in life is getting into Harvard. Like Ed, Megan tries with little success to focus Dustin on more conventional career paths.

|
Simone If Megan is Dustin's antithesis, Simone Fontenot is his nemesis. A Creole from New Orleans, Simone runs Turbo Temps, the agency where Dustin receives his employment assignments. Simone believes that the best thing for Dustin is tough love, which she administers with a little wit and a lot of sarcasm.
