Randy Glasbergen Artist Randy Glasbergen was born Feb. 20, 1957, in Sherburne, N.Y. He spent his childhood drawing everything in sight, selling his first cartoon while still in high school. Before graduating, he illustrated his first children's book and sold hundreds of cartoons to major publications such as the Saturday Review, Changing Times, Boys Life, New Woman and The Saturday Evening Post.
After a year of journalism studies, Glasbergen left college to free-lance full time.
Today, Glasbergen is one of America's most widely and frequently published cartoonists. Since 1972, he has sold more than 25,000 humorous illustrations and cartoons.
His cartoons appear regularly in Funny Times, Woman's World, Good Housekeeping, React, Reader's Digest, and many other magazines in more than 25 countries. His Gigglebyte cartoons are featured weekly in the Sunday supplement Access Internet Magazine.
Glasbergen's work as a cartoonist also brings him a steady flow of illustration assignments for a long list of clients, including Hallmark Cards, Intel, IBM, Compaq Computers, Hewlett-Packard, Roche Pharmaceuticals, Johnson & Johnson and many others. His cartoons and illustrations are featured in national advertising campaigns and on corporate World Wide Web sites, as well as greeting cards, calendars, T-shirts, screen savers, mouse pads and even dog raincoats.
Glasbergen is the author of several books, including, "How to Be a Successful Cartoonist," "Getting Started Drawing and Selling Cartoons," "Attack of the Zit Monster and Other Teenage Terrors," "Technology Bytes!" and "Are We Dysfunctional Yet?"
The newly-released second collection of cartoons from The Better Half, "Your Computer Thinks You're An Idiot!," (CCC Publications, ISBN 1-57644-121-0) features 128 pages of cartoons about the ongoing struggle between humans and computers. The strips were selected from "Today's Cartoon by Randy Glasbergen," which can be found on www.glasbergen.com. This site is the most popular independent daily cartoon on the Internet and has an enormous following all over the world. Randy Glasbergen works on the third floor of a large, creaky old Victorian house, which he shares with his wife and children in a small upstate New York town.
